Finally, some loving for the flapper era

December 13, 2008

In next month’s Harper’s Bazaar, Kate Hudson channels old Hollywood.  And to their credit, the shoot departs from 50s and 60s vintage ambiance and goes all the back to the flapper years for some fun with headwear!  I love the 20s, because that’s the era when women first begun to wear their hair short, and along that, came the more masculine look where flatter chests and hips became more acceptable.  It’s certainly not the look for everyone, but it certainly makes for a change from the monotonous Rachel blow-outs that we see today.

It kinda makes me wanna go back and check out Gosford Park again. Even though it’s set in the 30s, I just can’t get over the cool hair on the ladies!
