Retro married with technology sometimes lead to awesomeness, like here. Other times, the result is questionable. Case in point here.
Furthering its reputation as more of a play toy than an actually functional phone, another iPhone application has popped up. This one allows the user to actually rotary dial the number, adding up to 30 seconds to the dialing process. Why rotary dial when you can voice dial? I suppose it has some curb appeal. There are plausible situations where one may whip out an iPhone and show off this impressive piece of application.Â
One, as a prop to pick up girls at a bar. Observe.
Girl: Hey what is that thing?Â
You: Oh, you wanna check it out? It’s a rotary dial.Â
Girl: No way, on your iPhone?Â
You: Yeah, wanna give me your digits? I can call you on this.Â
Two, to bridge awkward conversations with the elderly members of your family during the holidays.Â
Old relative: What are you figeting with? Why is everyone looking down at their black notebook all the time?
You: It’s a phone?
Old relative: It’s a phone? It doesn’t look like a phone.
You: I’ll prove it to you. Here, see the rotary dial?
