Jennifer Connelly’s career in the ditch, I remember Dark City

December 2, 2008

I accidentally stumbled across Jennifer Connelly’s appearance on some random British program promoting some movie that I most likely will not see until it comes on TV in a few years.  Watch the first minute of the clip.  Seriously, somebody needs to give Keanu Reeves a lifetime achievement award for his comedic performances.  I mean, really, this could be him on SNL or Mad TV, parodying himself, no?

But Neo aside, what is up with her career nowadays?  She’s won an Oscar and everything, and the roles she’s picking now range from the marginal (Blood Diamond) to the outright inconsequential (He’s just not that into you with Jennifer Aniston)?  Y’all, this is someone who was in movies like Requiem for a Dream, Pollock, and House of Sand and Fog, movies that don’t embarass themselves and win awards.

But I digress.  Seeing her in another abysmal failure made me pine for the good times.  I remembered Dark City, one of my all-time favourites.  It looks like some sci-fi/fantasy flick but it’s not.  Watch to appreciate!
